Update from the College Guidance and Counseling Department

The College Guidance and Counseling Department at the Prep continues to work steadily with senior students and parents through the college application process. As of November 27, 2012:

  • 80.5% of the senior class has applied to college*.
  • A total of 718 applications have been submitted*.
  • 92 students have reported college acceptances*.
  • A total of $4,491,000.00 in merit/athletic scholarships has been awarded*.

The Rider University instant decision day took place on Tuesday, November 27. Six students were accepted instantly and were awarded merit scholarships totaling $284,000 over four years.

On-site college visits have concluded for 2012 – the Prep received 34 presentations from colleges/universities from across the country.

On December 1, the Prep faculty along with the guidance staff will administer the SAT’s.

On Tuesday, December 4, the College Guidance Department will be hosting a Financial Aid meeting. Joining us from La Salle University is their Director of Student Financial Services, Mr. Michael R. Wisniewski, who will be discussing the essentials of college financial aid and planning. The meeting will take place in the Rodio Gym at 6:30 p.m.

Br. Bob and Mr. Stahl met with all senior religion classes prior to the Thanksgiving break to conduct stress workshops. The response from the seniors was positive. Techniques were provided to the students, as well as discussions held about controlled vs. uncontrolled stressors.

The next Unitas Day will take place on Thursday, December 6.
