Vietnam Veteran Addresses Mr. Blystone’s History Class

Posted November 27th, 2012

The Academics Office at St. Augustine Prep initiated a program for the 2012-2013 Academic Year in which all teachers are encouraged to invite guest speakers into the classroom. On November 14, Lieutenant Commander Dan Sheehan of the US Navy (Ret.), spoke to Mr. Blystone’s history classes.

Lt. Cmdr. Sheehan served as a Naval pilot for 20 years, including a tour of Vietnam in 1969. Sheehan, a Harvard Graduate, spoke to the classes not only about his experience in Vietnam, but also about some of the physics of flight. It was a unique opportunity for the students to hear directly from an individual with first-hand experience of the Vietnam war.
