Posted June 17th, 2014

On Wednesday, June 11, Mr. Christopher Gheysens (Class of 1989), President and CEO of Wawa, Inc., spoke to members of the Alumni Association as part of its Leadership Lecture Series.

During the dinner meeting, Mr. Gheysens discussed the history of Wawa, his business philosophy, and the strategic methodologies Wawa utilizes to expand its convenience store chain of over 630 locations throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and Florida. This year marks Wawa’s 50th anniversary since opening its first store in Folsom, PA.

“Chris was a dynamic speaker and truly entertaining,” said Mr. David Zappariello (Class of 1983), Director of Alumni and External Affairs.

“He amazed the alumni with his in-depth knowledge of business metrics, his ability to run a privately-owned company with 21,000 employees, and the systematic method he and his team employ to ensure a positive, one-stop shopping experience for the 400 million customers the Wawa organization serves annually.”

Alumni looking to attend future Leadership Lectures are invited to request an invitation by contacting Mr. Zappariello at mr.zappariello@hermits.com.
