Welcoming Home Some of Our Third Semester Groups

Posted June 20th, 2016

As many Prep parents know, Third Semester encompasses service and/or learning trips that take place mostly at the end of the school year, although some occur over Christmas and Easter break. Our first batch of abroad and local trips have recently made it home, and we’ve been posting links on Facebook to videos where we’ve put together some of the photos from the trips.

Below are links to the videos we’ve compiled from photos so far (stay tuned for more in the coming weeks):

SPAIN

Hermits visited the Spanish Pavilion built for the Ibero-American Exposition in 1929, the Cathedral of Toledo and got a chance to put not just their Spanish language skills to the test, but Arabic also. All this and so much more here:

CHINA

Any trip to China has to include the Forbidden City (Beijing), the Summer Palace and the Great Wall, but our Hermits also experienced Tai Chi lessons, a Chinese tea demonstration, bustling markets, riding in a rickshaw, and even visiting a local family’s house for dinner. Wow!

BOSTON

Visiting our oldest seaport was truly an adventure! Students had the opportunity to walk the Freedom Trail, visit the Massachusetts State House—even sail on Gloucester Bay (Hoist that sail, Matey!) This Third Semester trip was a great, hands-on opportunity to learn about American History.

MORE TO COME

More photos and videos will be shared from our other Third Semester learning opportunities, which included the following:

  • Disney World
  • Stained Glass
  • St. John of God
  • Culinary Arts
  • Las Vegas
  • Peru
  • San Francisco
  • Sports Management
  • Video Game Design

Stay tuned!
