Winter Weather Impact and Spring Calendar Changes

Posted March 21st, 2014

The Executive Cabinet met this week to discuss the implications of multiple school cancellations as a result of a Winter Weather on the Spring Calendar. The Cabinet, which has already added December 16 (Study Day for Semester 1 Exams), April 11 (day of preparation for the Night at the Forum), and May 19 (Study Day for Semester 2 Exams), proposed several possibilities including changing the Easter Break schedule and delaying Exam Week. The proposed solutions led to conflicts with the Prom and Third Semesters plans. The Cabinet concluded that, in light of the inevitable conflicts created by adding any of those days, there will be no additional calendar days added to the school year. This decision reflects a robust and successful cyber-learning initiative, as well as a sensitivity to the schedules of our families.

The faculty who teach AP courses have decided to make adjustments to their schedules at the discretion of the teacher. Any changes will be communicated directly with AP students. These changes will be made with sensitivity to extra-curricular schedules, especially athletic schedules, to minimize conflicts.
