Class of 2029 - Opening Days of School
Class of 2029 – Opening Days of School
A Message from the Director of the 8th Grade Program
Dear Eighth Grade Parents,
Welcome to St. Augustine Preparatory School and the Brotherhood! As we prepare for the beginning of school, there are many helpful details to share.
- Summer assignments can be found here. Math summer work is due by 11:59 pm on August 25. English summer work is due on Orientation Day, August 26.
- For school supplies, the student’s Chromebook will be the medium for most notes and textbooks. Each teacher’s syllabus, which should be posted to MyPrep by August 21, should list supplies needed in each class. In addition, bring a pen, pencil, and folder to school.
- Intramural sports will take place once a week during Community Time (which is after second period). Students need to bring a pair of shorts, tee-shirt, and sneakers.
- MyPrep is the Prep’s main source of information (i.e., grades, homework, student ID, etc.). Mr. Garufi sent you an email on how to access it titled: “St. Augustine Prep – Congrats! Your IT account is successfully set up.” If you have any questions, contact Mr. Garufi at Mr.GarufiJr@hermits.com.
- Set up your son’s lunch account via Pay Schools Central. The link can be found on MY PREP and the school’s website (on the STUDENT LIFE tab, under DINING SERVICES). You need your son’s STUDENT ID # (a seven-digit number that can be found on MYPREP), and the school district is ST. AUGUSTINE PREPARATORY. If you have any trouble or questions, please contact Chef Vinnie at Mr.Berti@hermits.com or 856-697-2600 ext. 135.
- Sometime during the week of August 19, all students will receive an email from Mrs. Auger regarding their locker number and combination. Please make sure that your son checks his email and records the details.
- August 26 is Orientation Day from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Buses will depart at 12:15 p.m. Students are to wear the spring/fall dress code [Hermits Branded Navy, Gray or White Polo; Navy Blue or Gray Pants with a Black or Brown Leather Belt, Dress Socks (white athletic socks are not permitted; no-show, ankle, or quarter-socks are not permitted), Black or Brown Dress Shoes (Shoes must be able to hold a shine)].
- There is no school for eighth graders August 27 – September 2.
- On September 3, all students report to school. Be in homeroom by 7:55 a.m. and wear the spring/fall dress code. Dismissal is at 2:43 p.m. and buses depart at 3:05 p.m.
- On September 4 and 5, school pictures will be taken. Students need to wear the winter uniform (white dress shirt, 8th grade necktie, Prep V-neck sweater). Given the warm weather, students only need to wear the sweater for the picture.
- The Brotherhood Ceremony is September 4 at 8:15 a.m. in Rodio Gym. This is the first of many milestone events in your son’s journey at the Prep.
- September 6 is Hermit Fest. It’s a fun Brotherhood Day. The dress code is Richland Rowdies tee shirt (sold by Student Life the first week of school), casual clothes and sneakers (no slides, sandals, or flip-flops). Food is included in the price of the tee shirt.
May God bless this new academic year,
Fr. Steve Curry, O.S.A, Ed.D.
