Mentoring our New Students Through the Unitas Program
Posted December 31st, 2015
The UNITAS Program is an innovative approach which helps assimilate students into the learning community of the Prep by pairing each student with a member of the faculty.
UNITAS advisors support students for two years until they transition to the College Guidance Department during their Junior year. Advisors provide moral support, follow-up with students regarding their progress, and are a contact between home and school. Advisors may also identify counseling needs and make recommendations to the Counseling Department.
The UNITAS advisor curriculum is loosely based on the Student Augustinian Values Institute which stresses the core components of the Augustinian Tradition of Truth, Unity and Love.
In addition the program encourages collaboration between members of each class in regards to improving their educational and social development.
