Prep Grad Becomes CEO of Wawa

St. Augustine Prep alumnus Chris Gheysens (Class of 1989) recently took over as the CEO of Wawa, the largest convenience store chain in the Greater Philadelphia area. Chris has been with Wawa for over 15 years, most recently serving as president of the company.
After graduating from the Prep, Chris earned a B.S. in Accountancy from Villanova University, and an M.B.A. from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. He is also a Certified Public Accountant in New Jersey.
Wawa operates more than 600 convenience store/gas stations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. Recently the company expanded operations to central Florida, where several stores have been opened.
Wawa is the Native American name for the Canadian goose, which was found in the Delaware Valley. The corporate logo of the company contains this flying goose.
