Prep Graduate Wins World Title with the US Men’s U19 Lacrosse Team
It has been a good year for the Pontrello family. Nikko (Class of 2011) won an NCAA lacrosse championship with the Loyola University Greyhounds in the Spring (read more here). On Saturday, July 21, Nikko’s brother Steve (Class of 2012) won a World Title as a member of the USA under-19 men’s lacrosse team. Team USA defeated Canada by a score of 10-8 in the championship game held in Turku, Finland. The victory avenged an earlier loss to the Canadians in a pool play round just two weeks prior.
Fresh off the victory, Steve was interviewed by Lacrosse Magazine about his upcoming season at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. You can read that interview here.
Congratulations, Steve and Nikko!
