Science Teacher Called to Active Duty Service

Posted September 21st, 2011

Mr. Andrew Filipczak, who taught Honors Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Science at the Prep last year, has received orders to report to active duty in the Coast Guard for the coming year.  “Mr. Flip,” as he is affectionately known, is a Lieutenant in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve and has been in the service for seven years.  After specialized training which began this month, his unit will be deployed to the Middle East to conduct combat, law enforcement, and humanitarian relief operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Mr. Filipcazak also coached cross country and track at the Prep.  Mr. Zackary Coons, a Prep graduate of the Class of 2005, has been hired to teach Mr. Flip’s classes.

Please keep Mr. Flip and all of our service personnel in the Middle East in your prayers.
