St. Augustine Prep to Support “A Day for Danny”

Posted January 17th, 2012

Two St. Augustine Prep seniors, Bill and Pat McMenamin, have asked the school to make a donation to a fundraiser benefiting Danny Feltwell of Margate, NJ.  Danny is a three-year old boy who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in December 2010.

Single-parent DJ Feltwell brought his son to the hospital in November 2010 expecting to hear that his son was suffering from pneumonia. Instead, doctors found a tumor in his chest and described his type of cancer as T-cell acute lyphoblastic lymphoma.  Since the initial diagnosis just over one year ago, Danny has spent 259 days in the hospital.

Danny has been home now for almost three months, but he travels regularly to the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE for treatment. He is taking eleven different types of chemotherapy compounds, and will be on 85-day chemotherapy cycles from now until April 2013. Danny’s family members and friends are holding a fundraiser called “A Day for Danny” this Saturday, January 21 at the Margate Log Cabin. St. Augustine Prep will be making a donation to this event per Bill and Pat McMenamin’s request, which will be funded by a dress down day that will coincide with the LaRosa Festa Italiana on Friday, February 3.

For more information on the “A Day for Danny” fundraiser, or to make a donation on Danny’s behalf, please contact Natalie Feltwell Maga by emailing ADayForDanny@gmail.com.
