OC Exchange Club Donates Freedom Shrine To St. Augustine Prep
The students of St. Augustine Prep will not have to travel far to view the most significant documents in the history of the United States.
In collaboration with the Ocean City Exchange Club, a dedication ceremony was held on campus to commemorate the donation and installation of the Freedom Shrine. Dignitaries including State Assemblyman Bruce Land and Ocean City Exchange Club Board Members Stu Sirrot and President Frank Faverzani joined students, faculty and administrators-alike in taking advantage of the opportunity to steal an early glance at the newest addition to the school. The 30-piece historical exhibit, generously donated by the Exchange Club, mirrors similar installations placed at universities, state capitols, libraries, airports and a variety of other public spaces across the United States.
Mr. Blystone commented during his opening address, “As our students gaze at these words, written during such times of peril, it is our hope that they will gleam a deeper inspiration from and a deeper appreciation of the history of the United States.”
The impressive display, housed on the second-floor loft of the Buondonno Forum, consists of artifacts ranging from the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Mayflower Compact and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I have a dream” speech.
Mr. Frank Faverzani, Ocean City Exchange Club President and father of 2016 graduate Frank Jr., stated: “Our hope is that the exhibit serves as a reminder of the responsibility instilled at St. Augustine to be of service to the community”
