The Joy of Giving: From Richland to Camden

The Joy of Giving: From Richland to Camden

Hermits Basketball has traditionally found success on the court primarily by sharing the basketball.  On Friday, December 22nd, Richland’s heroes of the hardwood dished out their biggest assist of the young season.

The St. Augustine Prep basketball program took to the road in a school bus filled with toys donated by the Prep community. A large selection of the gifts were taken to the Cathedral Kitchen for distribution to needy families with the remainder making its way to the students of Holy Name School in North Camden.  Holy Name has become St. Augustine Prep’s adopted school as students from both schools have shared memories to last a lifetime.

The Hermits brought great joy to students from kindergarten through grade 8. Smiles were rampant for both team members as well as all of the ecstatic children receiving gifts. A very big thank you is due to the entire St. Augustine Prep Family for their generosity which helped make this Christmas a joyous one for all!  As per usual, the entire day was a team effort as the Hermit Ambassadors club assisted in the preparation of the gifts by sorting, labeling and wrapping prior to departure.
