Epic Student Summer Plans Richland NJ Athletic & Academic Camps

You remember how much summer adventures meant when you were growing up! We have done all the research and compiled a huge list of local athletic, academic, and fun possibilities for this year. It’s time to help your child plan their most epic, enriching summer vacation yet. Read our guide to all the summer programs at Saint Augustine Preparatory School and the best options for students in Richland, NJ.

Summer Sports Options

Saint Augustine Preparatory School has many different athletic camp and tournament options for your student to choose from! Many camps are for boys and girls of different ages, and you do not need to be a student or future student at Saint Augustine Preparatory School to sign up. Hermits Baseball Camps

Choose from two different camps with Coach Bylone and his staff this summer. Fundamentals and preparation for high school competition and beyond will be the focus each morning, with competitive games every day after lunch.

Hermits Basketball Opportunities

We will host three camps this summer for boys and girls that want to work on the fundamentals of shooting, passing, defense, ball handling, teamwork, competitive games, and much more.

Hermits Lacrosse Camp

Now in its 14th year, our summer lacrosse camp gives young athletes the opportunity to grow their skills in a friendly and positive environment.

Hermits Rowing Camp

Novice and experienced rowers will love this camp designed to get them ready for high school competition. Participants will be row eight men shells, learn to scull in recreational shells, train on the rowing machines, and finish out the week with a mini regatta and BBQ!

Hermits Rugby Camp

Come find out why rugby is one of the fastest growing sports in the country! Our week-long camp is full of training and a good all-around introduction to the game.

Hermits Soccer Camps

Sign up for four days of intensive training at one of the best high school facilities in the state. Give your son the chance to hone his individual skills as well as his tactical understanding of the game. Choose from two different camps.

Hermits Tennis Camp

Players focus on the essentials: forehands, backhands, serving, volleys, and footwork, among other skills with morning drills. We provide lunch and then work on tennis strategy before singles and doubles match play in the afternoons.

Hermits Wrestling Camp

Young wrestlers of all levels are invited to this incredible opportunity for developing their fundamentals in a fun, competitive environment. A lot of the focus will be on high-percentage scoring techniques and developing the right mindset for wrestling.

Can’t get enough of sports and the outdoors? Take advantage of your local recreation areas! Maybe you could plan a morning at Giampietro Memorial Park in Vineland for a picnic, disc golf, or fishing. Howard Pagliughi Park has over 15 acres of lighted tennis and basketball courts, baseball, softball, and t-ball fields, sand volleyball courts, and charcoal grills for a cookout.

Make a day trip or plan a weekend camping adventure at Wharton State Forest. It’s the largest park in NJ, with over 120,000 acres of trails, campsites, lakes, and so much more to explore. Plan to climb the 60-foot fire tower atop Apple Pie Hill for a great view of one of the true natural gems of your state.

High School Academic Programs

Algebra I Head Start Program

How about a head start on your success in Algebra next year? Our one-week course is a great option for any middle or high school student who will be taking Algebra I or Honors Algebra I in the fall.

Algebra II Head Start Program

We will go over all the basics you might be rusty on since you were in Algebra I. Come learn new skills, get a needed refresher on what you’ve already learned, and make new friends!

Geometry Head Start Program

Any middle or high school student who will be taking Geometry or Honors Geometry in the fall is welcome in this one-week course. We will cover all the basic concepts you’ll see next year, so you’ll have a big head start on your best year yet!

Sophomore Survival Skills Camp

If there were tough subjects or academic weak spots you discovered in your freshman year, we can help with those, and have a fun time while we’re at it. This camp focuses on preparation skills for chemistry, math, and literary analysis that rising sophomores will soon be putting to work!

Freshman Study Skills and Writing Camp

Are you ready for the big transition to high school? Choose from one of our two camps this summer to learn about note taking, better test preparation, memorizing, study tricks, organizational skills, and an introduction to writing at the high school and college levels. You will get to meet some of your new classmates, make friends, and start off strong!

Education for the Family

Check out some of the great educational and enrichment programming at the Millville Public Library this summer! There is a free poetry workshop on the third Thursday evening of every month, a Great Books discussion series, free family and classic movie screenings with snacks, and more.

Youth Programs at Saint Augustine Preparatory School

Developing Algebraic Thinking for Middle School Students

Students entering 6th or 7th grade who want to sharpen their math skills in fun, competitive, and challenging ways will love this program! We will focus on reasoning, application problems, and creating and critiquing mathematical arguments while using multiple representations and mathematical games.

Future Hermits Academic Summer Camp

Rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are invited to this special opportunity to see how they will perform as a future Hermit! We will have fun with science and technology projects in our state-of-the-art facilities, work on English composition and reading skills, and cover fundamentals in close-reading, SAT prep, standardized tests, and high school admissions tests. Parents are invited to an admissions information session at the end of the camp, and campers can participate in a mock entrance exam and Q&A session with our administrators.

STEM Summer Program

Rising 3rd-5th-grade students are invited to join the excitement! The camp will promote summer learning success with hands-on discovery activities and technology-rich experiences. STEM is the interdisciplinary and applied approach of science, technology, engineering, and math within a curriculum-based framework which engages students in authentic, meaningful learning environments. Literacy, language arts, and social science skills and strategies will be integrated into this framework to address the holistic world in which we live. Campers will have a blast as they conduct experiments, explore their creativity, and challenge their critical thinking skills.

Mindstorms for Middle Schoolers

Your middle school son or daughter will love diving into the exciting world of robotics and learning coding logic. Participants work in groups and individually to build LEGO Mindstorms robots. Then they get to experiment with how visual programming works and play in team challenges. Your child will learn so much about how to take risks, brainstorm ideas, think reflectively to correct misconceptions, and have fun!

Of course Wilmington, DE, is a short drive away, and there are so many family-friendly summer options for a day trip or more of a weekend staycation adventure. You will find opportunities like  the museum of natural history, historical state parks, DuPont Environmental Education Center, greenways and bike trails, and dozens of other possibilities.
