Freshman Experience
Gaurav Dravida: My Top Considerations for Choosing the Prep
St. Augustine Prep is a school for success. Some people come here for sports, but at the end of the day, this school is about education. The top thing that a perspective student must understand is the level of difficulty. I am not saying anything negative about public schools, but the Prep holds a different standard. Your willingness to apply yourself and work hard in order to pass a class is what life is about here. If you are not ready to do your homework, study for tests, and get help from teachers, the Prep is not for you.
Something else that you must understand is that there are some sacrifices that must be made to attend St. Augustine Prep. When you sign the paper of commitment, it may mean sacrificing time with friends and time spent relaxing. However, signing that paper also gives you so many positives. If you want to attend a successful college, be ready to work for your goals, and come to the Prep.
The last aspect of consideration is what you prefer. Do you want to get up every morning and wear a suit and tie? As you can know, the Prep requires a uniform. In the spring, we wear a short-sleeved polo shirt with grey dress pants and black shoes. During the fall/winter, we wear a white or light blue button down shirt with the same pants and a blazer and tie to top it off. Do you want to come to school with kids in the same attire, so that there is no room for judgement? In my eyes, that is exactly what I want. Sure it might take an extra five minutes to get ready, but in the long run, it is more than worth it. No more worrying about how I look, and more concentration on the things that matter in life such as education and showing off your special talents.
St. Augustine Prep has a seat at the table for you. Now, it is time for you to decide if you want to take it.
