Last week, Mr. Anthony Iaconelli was informed that he will be receiving a $5,000 grant under the Stanton Foundation’s “Innovation in Civics Education” program. The Stanton Foundation, which was created by long-time CBS president Frank Stanton, awards grants to outstanding educators as an incentive to explore creative new ways to engage students.

Mr. Iaconelli has been teaching at the Prep since 1985. He has taught a number of courses, including US History, Sociology, Constitutional Law, Holocaust and Genocide, Political Science, and more. Mr. Iaconelli has also coached several Prep sports teams and has been serving as the Director of Athletics since 1998.

“Coach Ike is one of the best teachers that we have here at St. Augustine Prep,” says Dean of Academics, Mr. Kevin Burke, “he is certainly deserving of this distinction.”
