Football Team Supports Special Olympics

Posted September 28th, 2011

Their winning attitude does not just take place on the grid iron. The St. Augustine Prep Football Players and Coaches take time from their practice and games to participate in the United States Special Olympic Golf Sectional to support the winning attitudes of the area Olympians. Many Olympians from the Delaware Valley come out and compete each year for the chance to move onto State Sectionals, Regionals, and then the US Olympic Team Finals.

“It is great to see how much the boys enjoy participating in this event,” commented Coach Michael Boody. Joining in with Coach Boody, Coach Stephen Cappuccio shared, “It makes a huge difference in the lives of these Olympians to have friends and other area athletes support their efforts toward a possible Gold, Silver or Bronze Medal.” You can’t help to feel the pride these coaches have for their Hermit players as they all come together to help these Olympians.

Each Olympian is teamed up with an area golf professional or golf coach who offers suggested pointers and advice. The Hermits serve as Caddies, Spotters, and Official Score Keepers for the sanctioned US Special Olympics event. WAY TO GO HERMITS!!!  HERMIT PRIDE!!!!
