Prep Community Celebrates Installation of Fr. Hagan as Prior Provincial
The St. Augustine Prep Community celebrates the installation of Fr. Robert P. Hagan, O.S.A. as Prior Provincial by the Province of St. Thomas of Villanova.
Fr. Hagan, O.S.A., was elected Prior Provincial of the Province of St. Thomas of Villanova in March of this year. He was officially installed as the centerpiece of the Provincial Chapter on Monday, June 13, 2022 at St. Thomas of Villanova Church on the campus of Villanova University. The Provincial is the major superior of the Province of St. Thomas of Villanova and serves in parishes, schools, and other ministries in Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, and in missions of Peru and Japan.
In addition to St. Augustine Prep, the Province of St. Thomas of Villanova sponsors Villanova University, Merrimack College, and Malvern Preparatory School. The Provincial has a close relationship with St. Augustine Prep, serving as Chair of the Members Corporation and Chair of the St. Augustine Preparatory School Board of Directors.
Fr. Hagan previously served as the Senior Associate Athletic Director at Villanova University. He oversaw all aspects of Student-Athlete Welfare which includes Sports Medicine and the Strength and Conditioning Departments. He was also proud to serve as the Team Chaplain for the football and men’s basketball programs, Fr. Rob first came to Villanova in 2003 as the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance and was promoted to his most recent position in July 2004. He was ordained to the priesthood in September 2003.
After graduating from Villanova in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts, Fr. Hagan earned a J.D. from Widener University School of Law in 1990. He then spent seven years as an attorney with Gillin and Associates, where from 1990 to 1997, he served on Criminal Defense Council in addition to handling contract negotiations, arbitrations and mediations.
