Prep Graduate Fighting to Make it to Major League Baseball

Posted March 8th, 2013

On Wednesday, March 6, The Daily Journal ran a feature article about St. Augustine Prep graduate Alexi Colon (Class of 2008), who will participate in Spring Training with the San Diego Padres-affiliated minor league camp in Peoria, Arizona. You can read the article here.

After graduating from St. Augustine Prep in 2008, Alexi Colon went on to play Division II baseball for Tusculum College in Tusculum, Tennessee. He finished his senior season with 21 home runs, good for second most in all of Division II baseball. Last year he played for both the San Diego Padres’ rookie-league affiliate in Arizona and the Eugene Emeralds, a low-Single-A team in Eugene, Oregon. Colon hopes that his performance in this year’s Spring Training will increase his chances of eventually making a Major League Baseball roster.
