Prep Graduate Jack Crawford Selected in NFL Draft

Posted May 1st, 2012

On Saturday, April 28, the third day of the 2012 NFL Draft, St. Augustine Prep graduate Jack Crawford (Class of 2008), was selected by the Oakland Raiders as the 158th overall pick. Crawford, a London native, only began playing football in his junior year at the Prep, during the 2006 fall sports season. Even in his first few days in the game, it was apparent that his size (6’6”, 250 lbs.) and strength would be a tremendous asset. He was named First Team All-Parochial that season.

Crawford accepted a full-scholarship to Penn State in 2008. In his tenure with the Nittany Lions, he started 34 games and had 26 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, and 3 fumble recoveries. By all accounts, his talent for the game continues to grow with his experience, and on Saturday the Oakland Raiders decided that Crawford has what it takes to compete on the highest level of the sport.
