Squash Team Plays First Match

Posted February 22nd, 2013

St. Augustine Prep’s newest athletic team competed in its first interscholastic match on February 20. Established in December 2012, the squash team played Squash Smarts, a club comprised of students from Philadelphia public schools.

The Prep team practices twice a week at Greate Bay Racquet and Fitness in Somers Point. The club is owned by Prep parent Mark Benevento, whose son, Mark (Class of 2015), is a member of the team. The Prep is fortunate to have Mr. Greg Park as coach of the team. Greg is a professional squash player who is currently ranked No. 1 in the United States and ninth in the world by the Squash Doubles Association Pro Tour.

With the introduction of squash, the Prep now offers 21 sports that compete on an interscholastic level.
