Winter Sports Teams Head into Playoffs

Four St. Augustine Prep winter sports teams are heading into the final portion of their seasons over the next week. On Friday, February 17, the ice hockey team will compete in the first round of the Gordon Conference playoffs against St. Peter’s Prep at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. The game starts at 6:00 PM.

On Monday, February 20, the swim team will compete against St. Joseph, Metuchen at the Raritan Bay YMCA in Perth Amboy, NJ for the first round of the playoffs. This is a re-scheduling; The original date was Tuesday, February 21.

The basketball team will play its first playoff game on Tuesday, February 21, at Hammonton High School. Their opponent in this game will be the lowest remaining seed after tonight’s first round games. Any Richland Rowdy who intends to go to the game should arrive early. Student tickets are $4.00 and can be purchased at the door. The winner of the game in Hammonton will move on to the CAL finals which will be held at Stockton on Saturday, February 25. The first round of the state finals will begin next Wednesday, February 29.

The district 32 wrestling championships begin on Friday, February 17, at Absegami High School, and will continue throughout the weekend. The top three winners of the district championships will move on to compete in the region 8 championships.

The fencing team will be hosting the annual Hermits Invitational Tournament on Saturday, February 25.
