Hermits Helping Ronald McDonald House of SJ spreads Easter love

Posted March 31st, 2024

In the spirit of servant leadership and giving back to the community, the Hermits Helping the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey Club has once again showcased their dedication to making a difference in the lives of those in need. This commitment was demonstrated during the recent Easter holiday when club members came together to assemble and distribute 50 Easter boxes during their spring break.  These gifts were filled with joy and hope for the children currently at the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey (RMHSNJ).

The Easter boxes, were made of small toys, candy, chocolate eggs, and stuffed rabbits, and were crafted with care to bring smiles to the faces of young guests.  The act itself embodied the mission of the Prep and the true spirit of servant leadership. This act of kindness was more than just a service project; it reflects the club’s year-round commitment to support families in need throughout the year.

In further testament to their dedication, earlier in the year, club members also volunteered their time to prepare a hearty breakfast for over 50 guests at the house. The menu featured a delicious spread of scrambled eggs, French toast, bacon, Danish pastries, granola bars, cereal, croissants, and assorted breakfast treats. This gesture not only provided a warm meal but also gave families a true sense of home and love from their community.

The club has been busy otherwise as their activities have extended beyond these events.  Initiatives like their January Welcome Pack and Sponge Drive, which was held to ease the initial anxiety and exhaustion faced by guests new to the home. Additionally, the club hosted an evening of Candy Bar Bingo during the Christmas season, offering a fun and engaging way for children to interact and enjoy their time at The House.

These acts of service by some of the youngest Hermits in the Brotherhood are a testament to the Prep’s emphasis on servant leadership, a core component of the school’s co-curricular program. These leadership opportunities aim to foster a sense of societal responsibility and compassion among students, encouraging them to explore their interests and apply what they’ve learned in class to real-world scenarios. Like all of our co-curricular activities, the Hermits Helping the Ronald McDonald House of SJ Club embodies this mission, demonstrating how the Hermit Brotherhood can make a real impact in their communities.

Description

In the spirit of the school’s values, the Prep is proud to instill in its students the values of truth, unity, and love, guiding them to become servant leaders who act with integrity and purpose. The Hermits Helping the Ronald McDonald House of SJ Club is a shining example of how these values are brought to life, reinforcing the belief that true servant leadership is rooted in collaborative work and service to others.
