Holy Week closes with Lenten Prayer Service

Posted March 31st, 2021

On Wednesday of Holy Week, as the Prep community prepared to disperse to celebrate this holiest of weeks, the Hermit Brotherhood celebrated the Passion of Jesus the Christ. Each class came to the Rodio gym for a Prayer Service hosted by Campus Ministry and based on the Good Friday Veneration of the Cross. Students led their classmates in prayers, readings from Scripture and reflections. In the most moving portion of the prayer service, Fr. Tony Burrascano, O.S.A. offered a powerful homily followed by an invitation for students to write on a piece of paper an intention they wanted to offer for Holy Week.  They then came forward and attached them to a large cross which was the central focus of the service. The service concluded with the cross being carried by students to each segment of the gymnasium allowing their classmates the opportunity to venerate by bowing and praying.

The ceremony closed the Lenten Season for the school community and provided the final preparation for all to enter the celebration of Holy Week.
